Tanjung Bungah

Everything close, and one honest catch

Jalan Loh Poh Heng, Tanjung Bungah, Penang

What it is like to live here

Tanjung Bungah sits between George Town and Batu Ferringhi. The draw is that it is finished: a wet market you can walk to, Tree Square for daily shopping, POWIIS next door and Dalat a kilometre on, Straits Quay for weekends. It is also one of the island’s established expat areas.

The catch is the road. One coastal route carries everything between town and Batu Ferringhi. The 20-minute drive to George Town is an off-peak figure — at 8am and during the school run it is not. If you commute into town daily, drive it at that hour before you decide.
